CHENNAI: UK-based mobile handset maker, Meridian Mobile, has launched its
flagship brand of GSM phones 'Fly' in India, after conducting rigorous
testing and customization of Fly products in the country.
Launching the Fly range of GSM phones, Rajiv Khanna, CEO of Meridian
Mobile's Indian operations said that Fly was being launched with a variety of
exclusive and differentiated mobile phones.
“It is important to have fully loaded phones as the replacement market gets
stronger. This is likely to result in huge demand for feature rich and stylish
phones. Meridian will offer the critical buyer with smart value choices.”
Stating that the company aims to achieve Rs 100 crore turnover in India, by
selling 250,000 phones in the first year of operations, he said that the
marketing strategy would be on focusing on store branding and forging alliances
with retailers.
“In the first phase, our focus is on placement. We hope to reach 5000
premium counters by the end of first quarter, which will together account for 70
per cent of the overall retail sales,” Khanna said further.
Bollywood icon, Malaika Arora, has been signed-on as the brand ambassador,
reflecting the best of trendy and glamorous styling of the phones.
