DoT to clear spectrum bottleneck by December

New Delhi: The India Telecom 2006 will be the first ever event organized by DOT along with FICCI and TEMA to showcase Indian Telecom before the international community. This event consisting of an exhibition and a CEO conference will be held in New Delhi from 14 - 16 December 2006. 

On the occasion of an industry meet on "India Telecom 2006” held at FICCI In New Delhi today, M Sahu, joint secretary (T), DoT, Ministry of Telecommunications and IT, Govt. of India, said: “India Telecom – 2006 is an initiative of DoT, FICCI and TEMA aimed to bring the buyout Indian telecom industry at one platform to interact with International industry. Exhibitors and leading companies from, Canada, China, Israel, USA, Taiwan, Singapore and Korea are taking part in the event.” 

Talking about the spectrum policy, he said “The department is working on the 3G spectrum policy and it is likely to come up with the final policy by December. We are working on executing a speedy policy on it,” 

The India Telecom 2006 event would showcase India's advantage as well as global opportunities. The response of the participants assures the success of the event. The Industry Meet gave an insight on the progress being made in the preparations for “India Telecom 2006”. 

Speaking on the CEO conference to be held at the event, Sahu said that the discussion will be attended by 50 CEO's from across the globe. 

“Dayanidhi Maran, Minister for Communications and IT has personally invited the CEO's for the event and 15 of them have already confirmed the participation,” Sahu added.
