NEW DELHI: Bharti Broadband and Data Group and Bank of India have signed a wide area network contract for BOI's core-banking project. Though officials declined to disclose the size of the deal, they said it is one of the largest deals in recent times.

The 10-year project is being implemented with Hewlett Packard India and would provide terrestrial connectivity to 31 network aggregation points and 750 branches. Besides Bharti would also be responsible for the maintenance of BOI's entire network across the country.

Rajiv Sharma, CEO, Bharti Broadband and Data Group said Bharti would leverage its expertise and technology capabilities to put BOI at par with the best banks in the world.

As part of the core banking project, BOI has identified specialized target groups in order to develop core advantage for future growth and to meet the ever-growing challenges and competition.

D Krishnamurthy, GM IT, BOI said, "In order to make our services more efficient and meet customers' expectations, we are implementing a comprehensive core banking project with data warehousing solution."
