ViaSat and Eutelsat have demonstrated DVB-RCS (digital video broadcast - return channel satellite) compliance of the LinkStar broadband networking system. Also, new system software offered by the two companies will make any LinkStar system DVB-RCS compliant, without any hardware modifications. Although, there is no third-party DVB-RCS certification currently, the tests were conducted to a plan authored by SatLabs. It is expected that later this year, SatLabs (a forum of several equipment providers for promoting DVB-RCS interoperability and compliance tests) would come out with a certification process through third-arty testing organizations.
