Bharti Infotel has unveiled its IP-based multi protocol label switching (MPLS) backbone network solution. For this it collaborated with Cisco Systems and has spent more than Rs 15 crore for setting up the MPLS-based infrastructure. Along with higher speeds, security, and scalability MPLS technology would help in delivering several revenue-generating services such as bandwidth on demand, managed services, and intelligent routing of voice or data, said Badri Agarwal, president, Bharti Infotel while unveiling this service in New Delhi. Rangnath Salgame, president, Cisco India and Saarc was also present.
Agarwal did not disclose the price of this offering. However, he maintained that customers could save 35 percent on the network costs when compared to the traditional TDM networks. Talking about the market size for MPLS-based networks and services in the India, Rangnath Salgame said that the overall IP-VPN market in India is estimated to be around Rs 250 crore and MPLS is a part of that pie.
