Bharti's Roadmap for East India

With a Rs 300 crore investment in east India alone, Bharti plans to make Airtel India's first GSM operator to be provide cellular services in all the 23 telecom circles. Bharti declared this while unveiling its roadmap for east India. As part of its look east, Bharti has acquired Hexacom which has a license for Northeast India. It would also apply for a unified access license (UAL) for Assam.

Also, Bharti plans to commence services in West Bengal, Orissa, Bihar, and Jharkhand for which it already has UALs. By 2005, Bharti plans to expand into 200 new towns in the east. Before this financial year ends, it plans to set up over 500 cell sites in the new circles.
