About V&D 100
Change is the way of life and V&D 100 has changed to suit the
requirements of the industry. We have divided the issue in two parts—equipment
and services. Equipment focuses on all kinds of equipment, be it carrier or
enterprise, while services focus on all NTP ’99 classification of services.
For the first time in V&D 100, we have moved away from company-specific
approach to a segment-specific approach, which was a long pending demand from
our readers. We have covered around 32 segments, of which 25 were from equipment
and seven from services. (No other magazine in the telecom world covers such
diverse segments.) Segments like network security, NMS, WLAN, VoIP switch, and
broadband wireless radio have also been covered. Some segments like paging and
telecom training, have been left out.
This year we have also been able to rank multinationals for the first time, a
difficult task considering the fact that there is a lack of transparency and
companies are very secretive of revealing data. And a majority of companies are
not planning to share data in any form. It seems this issue will get addressed
only when a majority of companies get listed at the bourses.
