Hughes Software Systems (HSS), a communications software major, achieved a total turnover of Rs 198.53 crore for the FY 2000-2001, up by 65 percent from 120.75 crore previous fiscal. The company reported profit after tax of Rs 62.9 crore, a 100 percent increase over the last fiscal’s Rs 31.5 crore.

The company has teamed up with Sun Microsystems, and AudioCodes, a leading supplier of convergence technologies for voice over packet technology. This is expected to give developers a complete development package all the way up to the customers’ specific applications. HSS, AudioCodes and Sun have already successfully tested the inter-operability of the Hughes Softswitch product with the AudioCodes MP-100 Analog Media Gateway family and will continue to test the entire suite of HSS VoP stacks for compatibility. HSS has also tied up with Motorola to deliver smart networks enabled packet telephony solutions. Strategic collaboration with HSS adds to Motorola’s comprehensive smart networks solutions and delivers an unprecedented level of software stack integration. Besides, the company has entered into strategic/marketing tie-ups with companies like Nokia. HSS and Adax have developed a "one stop solution" to provide OEMs implementing 3G networks, a single source for network infrastructure. The relationship will cut time to market for 3G mobile data networks.
