Prakash Panjwani is the vice-president of worldwide embedded sales for
SafeNet, a leading provider of internet security technology that is the de facto
standard in the VPN industry. But he is better known as the man who developed
the CDMA signaling standard within the Telecommunications Industry Association
where he chaired the CDMA signaling group responsible for coordinating the
efforts of such telecommunications giants as Lucent, Nortel, QUALCOMM, Nokia,
Sprint PCS, and Motorola.
Prior to joining SafeNet, Panjwani worked with Certicom for five years as
director, business development, with a specific focus on the wireless sector and
the specific responsibility of developing and executing Certicom’s wireless
strategy.
Panjwani was also a member of Motorola’s cellular infrastructure group
where he contributed to the streamlining of Motorola’s standardizing efforts.
Earlier, at Telcordia Technologies (formerly Bellcore), he contributed to the
development of the early architectures of the wireless Internet and wireless
applications. He holds a BSc in electrical engineering from Columbia University
and an MSc in information networking from Carnegie Mellon University. He
currently serves on the board of directors of the Radicchio Group, an industry
coalition established to push public key infrastructure (PKI) based wireless
e-commerce security standards. n Page(s) 1
