An
electrical engineering graduate from IIT Kanpur, Sindhu made news by founding
Juniper, which made routers and was in direct competition to the undisputed
leader Cisco. Popularly nicknamed as "Cisco Killer", Sindhu was ranked
104th by Forbes recently with a net worth of $2.5 billion. At Juniper, Sindhu
has been instrumental in architecture, design, and development of the M40 range
of routers. While at Sun Microsystems, Sindhu played a pivotal role in the
development of the company’s first high-performance multiprocessor system
family. He specialized in VLSI design tools and high-speed interconnects for
shared-memory multiprocessor systems. It was this expertise that led to his
pathbreaking innovation to deliver any-to-any IP connectivity at a very
high speed. Juniper now has about 30 percent market share in the high end
Internet backbone routers market and is second to Cisco. n
