As a company what is your vision and what are your priorities?

Our company has solutions ranging from intelligent traffic optimization and management to video services, and from market analytics to premium content delivery.

We have a clear cut vision, we want to start a fourth wave of computing. The fourth wave will distribute the open internet and web based media to the mobile phones. With the smartphones, BlackBerrys, iPhones growing in the market, it means more customers will use cellular networks to surf web and run applications. In India, there will be a huge population that will experience Internet first time on there hand held devices.

We as a company want to serve it, facilitate it. Irrespective of Wi-Fi and WiMax, we want to give our best in promoting and unleashing this technology wave. Figures also substantiate the vision we stand by, globally mobile data traffic has increased by 160% over the past year to 90 terabytes per month. We want to capitalize on this opportunity by providing our best.

We have more than a billion consumers. We spend 18-20% of our revenues in research and development.

What importance Indian market has in your business?

India presents a huge opportunity and an amazing business case for us. Youths in the country are extremely tech savvy. The country has impressive young population and they are going to be the real promoters of the mobile Internet. If we see the facts that social networking sites which are now a percentage of iPhone data usage or internet usage, the youth has dominated the segment.

Do you see any drastic changes once 3G gets in place?

Once 3G gets in place, we do see drastic changes in the consumer patterns. Data uptake is huge. We are bullish about market. Consumer just cares about the user experience. 3G will make for excellent changes for the Indian market. 3G will dramatically change the user experience. Data intensive services will be guided by quality of experience and that will be well supported by the third generation network. Mobile data traffic is set to grow 25-fold by 2012, as has been predicted by certain reports.

Also in rural areas where the PC penetration is so dismal, the mobiles stand at an impressive score by its availability. There will be a huge population that will surf Internet first time onto there affordable devices.

What are the applications which will be riding high post 3G?

Man to machine application will be upcoming. Video is going to be killer application, it will dominate the mobile data traffic.

What are the issues that you see regarding M-Commerce?

There are challenges to m-commerce. The whole issue of security and fraud is one big thing that needs to be understood and the trust has to be rooted in the customers mind before it gets the big thing in the country.
