DoT recently awarded ILD and national long distance NLD licences to C&W. What are your roll-out plans regarding the same?
The licences will enable us to roll-out one of the most advanced next generation networks seen in this region. Our network will be powered by dual PoPs in all four metros with further roll-out plans in Pune and Hyderabad. Also, for extending our services coverage to other tier-2 cities in India, we are in advanced stages of discussion with two leading Indian providers. With the network build nearly complete and the security clearance underway from regulators, we should be in a position to launch our services by early Q3 of FY 2008-09.

Innovation is the key word for rapid growth. So, what's happening on that front?
'A new way everywhere' is our brand's promise. So we're continuously looking at how we deliver innovation and new services. Fixed mobile convergence (FMC) is a totally unique and different solution-one that our customers want. We continue to provide innovative technology solutions on multiple fronts to our customer's business requirements. We are also exploring the hosted contact center space with newer technologies and business support features. Our recent wins with Tesco, Aviva, etc highlight the innovation in our products, commercial models, and service approach.

C&W has been keen on launching next generation networks in India. What are your other future plans in India and Apac?
We invested more than $30 mn in our network across India. We've made these investments to support our customers and their growth and expansion across the region. We're helping our customers to do more with less. They look up to us to optimize and improve their communication assets. And we are bringing to market a rich portfolio of services that will serve their needs including managed videoconferencing, application performance management, and solutions that will leverage our MSP. We are also continuously investing in expanding our services footprint into emerging markets in Apac.

What was the driving force behind the partnership with Telecom Italia Sparkle?
Customers are crying out for a global provider that understands the different needs of their businesses across disparate geographic locations, and one that is obsessive about delivering the technology they need to meet their business priorities, and is backed by service experience.

Specifically, our partnership with Telecom Italia Sparkle builds on existing synergies to drive expansion and support business presence in key growth areas in the Mediterranean region.
