What are the key challenges as you plan to take the company to the next level?
Resources are a big challenge for us. Hence, we are investing in human resources, innovation, training, among others. When we started in India, we thought of low cost operations, but also developed a global environment that meets global standards. Though a number of resources are sitting in India, there are chances to explore global practices and come out with ideas.

How are your plans with the US recession becoming a major concern?
Recession may not be an issue for us as our key markets are South East Asia, the Middle East and Africa, besides India. But the weakness of the US dollar is an issue. Dealing with banks will mitigate the dollar-related risks.

In terms of innovation, what new projects are in the pipeline?
We have successfully implemented Crestel, convergent billing solution; Cyberoam, unified threat management solution; and 24online, billing and bandwidth management solution. At present, we are working on a center policy server or service selection portal. This is aimed at offering easy manageability to operators for providing different services to their customers. With this, we are trying to assist operators for bringing down the service time, as manageability is becoming complex for them to offer a number of services.

What are your plans for growth?
We are expanding in Europe for Crestel in association with leading equipment vendors. We are also aggressively looking at the African countries and trying to partner tier-1 operators.

What are your plans to utilize the NGN initiatives by leading operators?
We are also in talks with leading global system integrators to introduce an end-to-end solution for next generation BSS OSS that support multiple services, technologies, geographies and customer types for next generation voice, video and data services. Next generation networks will assist operators by giving them greater business flexibility and a higher RoI. The transformation from legacy system to an all IP-based platform is inevitable and is the future for the telecom industry.

We have domain expertise in emerging IP-based access technologies and services. We have been conducting extensive research for developing OSS BSS modules for NGN technologies. We have completed several NGN-based projects in India last year, and plan to extend our reach in emerging markets through tie-ups with leading NGN equipment vendors.
