Intec has had a growing presence in India since last 6 years. In what way have you ramped up your investments in this financial year?
India has been a significant market for Intec for half a decade now. Today we are India's leading software vendor to carriers operating fixed, mobile and next-generation networks. This fiscal year (October 2006–September 07) we are investing close to $12 mn in India, which is almost five times our previous investment ($2.5 mn, in 2005 primarily for Intec's Bangalore center.) We shall be strengthening our dedicated sales and delivery force. We are ramping up our strength from 275 people in Bangalore to over 400 by end of 2007. We are heavily investing in training our people in Bangalore, which has become the center of Intec's global operations.

How much does India contribute to your overall revenue?
India is part of Intec's Asia-Pacific operations, which is the fastest growing region for our business. Currently, the APAC region contributes 16% to our total revenue. In the next 2-3 years, we see that number increasing easily to 25% and India will be a major contributor.

What is your go to market strategy in India?
We don't constrain ourselves working with only one system integrator. Our priority is the customer. Typically, the customer will want to choose the billing system and system integrator. We have a strong relationship with all SIs in India like Wipro, Satyam, Patni, IBM, Accenture to name a few. We also have some key strategic partners. Basically, we work with various SIs on a case to case basis as per the customer's choice.

Almost the entire top-line Indian telcos are your clients for Intec's OSS BSS products. What more are you look at achieving in India?
We still have to rope in a few large Indian telcos as our customers. We see the Indian telco business maturing and expanding not just in the number of subscribers but in terms of the services and business size. In September 2006, MTNL selected Intec to supply its convergent billing systems in a multi-million dollar deal. We hope to bring in more services and products related to wholesale billing and mediation, and fulfillment areas.

What are the news business services Intec is exploring?
We are leaders in OSS and BSS and offer order management, customer management, but currently we do not offer service fulfillment and service activation kind of products. This could be a new area if there is enough demand from our customers.

Are you keen on any acquisitions in India?
The reasons we do acquisitions is to expand our product portfolio. We look for something that enables us to fulfill a part of our requirement. We are currently interested in any company that is focusing on service activation, service fulfillment, and fraud management, as we do not have any expertise in these two areas. We maybe interested in such companies in India if they offer these services.
