DoT to allocate 3G spectrum today

Paving way for the launch of high speed mobile broadband services in the country, the government is expected allocate 3G to spectrum to Bharti Airtel, Reliance Communications, Vodafone and others today, as the Defence has agreed to handover required quantity of radio airwaves.

DoT had set 1 September as the deadline for allocating spectrum, as per the schedule of auction, which fetched the government over Rs67, 000 crore for selling 3G frequency. If spectrum gets allocated today, then operators will be able to roll out 3G services by year end.
