With mobile subscriber base increasing by the day and multimedia cell phones being available at cheaper prices to people across India, it comes as no surprise that there is also an increased demand in software solutions for media based phones. As consumers are becoming more aware, a majority of them want to lay their hands on such a software for their multimedia phones which would enable them use services like VoIP, Internet radio, video call, games, etc. To fulfill this gap, more and more solution providers are offering specialized software which would enable users to run these applications on popular bases, such as Android. One such company is PathPartner Technologies-Bengaluru based technology corporation focused on providing products and services for rich media devices-which has recently launched a new software solution for media phones based on Android 2.0 platform.
The software enables use of social media, video communications, Internet enabled services like radio, games, movies trailers, etc. Since the solution runs on Android 2.0 platform, it is optimized for larger screens also. That is, it works even for resolutions up to 1024x600. For a faster UI performance, 2D graphic performance has been increased. For a better experience and access to social media sites like Flickr, Picasa and YouTube, caching and pre-fetching has been added as enhancements to the software.
“We intend to provide a low-cost platform for enabling video based communications along with games and utility applications,” says Dipanjan Ghosh, VP, technology, PathPartner Tech. Such kind of a solution can be used to stay in touch with peers, keep track of what is happening even on television, watch videos on YouTube and also movie trailers or even book a ticket. Such a device can also integrate with service channels offering paid and free services.
The solution integrates services such as video call, acoustic echo canceller and voice call as well. The software is compatible with desktop phones as well as wall mounts in the living room. “With major operators rolling out country-wide video telephony service, there will be an increased awareness and uptake in consumer video phone category. Adding location based commercials and services, rich social media integration and good quality videoconferencing capability to existing fixed-line phones will bring about next level of revolution in the Indian telecom broadband industry,” says Dipanjan.
