Uniline Energy Systems has introduced a new line of online, high capacity UPS system, christened as the D-series. “This system will help in reducing power consumption as well as costs in the long run,” says RK Bansal, CEO, MD and founder, Uniline Energy Systems.

The 'D-series' is also being called as the 'green UPS system', as it helps in achieving energy-efficiency targets to as much as 95%. “Our new systems are designed keeping in mind the Indian conditions,” says Bansal. These UPS systems are tested and are capable of running on high temperatures of 50 degree celcius. The most interesting part is that they are built in a way that air conditioning is not required for these UPS systems.

High efficiency comes from high input power factors (PF), which in this case is greater than 0.99. High efficiency is also because of the reduction in power consumption because of the redundancy of air-conditioning units. The input THDI is 65%, and the capacity offered is also more. Owing to these factors, the cost will be effectively less. The D-line of UPS or backup systems have a display which shows the battery capacity remaining as well as the time. Uniline has increased the backup time from mere fifteen minutes to eight hours. “These systems are very reliable and suitable for supporting huge telecom infrastructure,” says Bansal. “An additional feature of optional power off is available for use in case of emergencies,” he adds.

Uniline is also involved in joint projects with major telcos for the installation of solar energy systems in rural areas. Bansal says, “We foresee the use of solar systems as backup for computers and ATM machines as early as May, 2010.” They have also set up power backup infrastructure for the 3G network across India.

The latest D-line systems are based on IGBT technology at rectifier and inverter stages. They are capable of being controlled remotely also. “They are optimized for the IT and telecommunication sector and are scalable too,” says the company's spokesperson.
