SSMC Center in Singapore
SSMC has announced its plan to establish an R&D center in Singapore tasked with expanding the company's process technology portfolio. The development center will broaden the scope of SSMC's wafer engineering and manufacturing services. SSMC's R&D center will focus on development of specialized manufacturing process targeted initially to the e-government solutions, automotive, near field communication, and RF markets.

Tellabs 8607 Switch Coming Soon
The Tellabs 8607 access switch is premiering at this year's Mobile World Congress. The new Tellabs 8607 access switch is a single, flexible solution for seamlessly connecting any generation mobile site to the rest of the network because it includes TDM, ATM, IP and Ethernet. Smartly designed to also include DSL functionality without additional hardware, this single device performs DSL jobs traditionally done by two devices.

Sunrise Deploys Amdocs
Amdocs has announced that Sunrise Communications AG has expanded its use of Amdocs OSS solutions. Amdocs OSS solutions enable Sunrise to establish a foundation for end-to-end service fulfillment to support data and voice services, and streamline its processes to better handle the volume of its residential service fulfillment requirements.

Nokia Siemens' New Service
Nokia Siemens Networks, together with Global Mediacom, has announced a joint collaboration to launch a commercial broadcast mobile TV service, based on the Digital Video Broadcast-Handheld (DVB-H) technology, in Indonesia, in the first half of 2008. Nokia Siemens Networks will provide consulting to maximize the ability to reach and deliver compelling content to early adopters of broadcast mobile TV.

IMImobile's Mobile Ad Platform
IMImobile has announced that it has commenced pre-launch trials of its 'Ad-Ring' mobile advertisement platform. Ad-Ring provides an environment in which multi-format ad campaigns can be created and delivered to consumers via a full range of media covering SMS, MMS, voice, WAP portal, caller ring back tone and video streaming.

Solar-Powered Site from Telenor
Telenor Pakistan has launched another environmental friendly initiative by using solar energy to power one of its repeater sites in the NWFP. The pilot site, which is in Buner, is a solar-electricity hybrid system that runs entirely on solar energy during the day and switches to electricity or battery power at night. Telenor Pakistan continues its efforts to roll out modern networks in a socially responsible manner.

F-Secure to Partner with Toshiba
F-Secure is partnering with Toshiba Information Systems to provide F-Secure Mobile anti-virus for Toshiba's Windows Mobile smart devices throughout Europe. This makes it very easy for Toshiba's customers to start using malware protection on their mobile device. As the security software is already preinstalled in the handset, the user doesn't have to spend extra time finding a suitable solution.

ASPIDER Selects XIUS-bcgi
XIUS-bcgi has announced an agreement under which ASPIDER Solutions will deploy the XIUS-bcgi Mobile Services Platform to power the growth of their MVNE operations. More deals across Europe and the US will be announced by ASPIDER Solutions in the coming months. ASPIDER Solutions intends to leverage the XIUS-bcgi Mobile Services Platform to extend its range of network services.

De-Fi Mobile Chooses Broadsoft
De-Fi Mobile has chosen BroadSoft's BroadWorks VoIP application platform to enable the delivery of media-rich, advanced IP features and global voice service to mobile users. De-Fi Mobile's new Straight Talk service disrupts the existing mobile services market by bridging the gap between carrier networks, handset manufacturers and mobile application providers that has left subscribers with hit-or-miss call quality and often exorbitant pricing for non-local calling.

Huawei Unveils IPTime
Huawei Technologies has unveiled the comprehensive IP Transport Infrastructure for Mobile Evolution (IPTime) at the Mobile World Congress 2008. Huawei's IPTime is an ALL IP-based transport solution that creates enhanced broadband experiences and TCO reductions in 2G/3G mobile networks for carriers. Huawei also used the event to showcase key components of the IPTime Solution.

Voice SMS Trials by Kirusa
Kirusa has demonstrated the exchange of voice SMS between diverse carriers using different voice SMS systems. The trials were based on the technical specification developed by the GSM Association. Ufone and Telenor Pakistan successfully exchanged voice SMS between their networks. Telenor Pakistan and Ufone Pakistan are set to launch the interoperable voice messaging services this year.

Postpaid Billing by Telefonica O2
Amdocs has announced that Telefonica O2 Slovakia has deployed a new Amdocs billing solution, the Amdocs Billing StartPack, to quickly establish its wireless postpaid billing capabilities. The Amdocs Billing StartPack has made it possible for Telefonica 02 Slovakia to rapidly introduce innovative voice, data and content services and bundles, and deliver a single bill for all offers.

Ericsson's 3G Network for Telcel
Ericsson has been selected by Telcel to provide a 3G network, enabling the launch of high-speed mobile broadband in major cities including Mexico City and Monterrey. Under the agreement, Ericsson will supply a complete 3G network, including base stations, network controllers and extensive software functionality, to upgrade part of Telcel's existing network.

Nokia to Acquire Trolltech
Nokia and Trolltech ASA have announced that they have entered into an agreement under which Nokia will make a public voluntary tender offer to acquire Trolltech. In addition, to the key software assets, Trolltech's talented team will play an important role in accelerating the implementation of Nokia's software strategy.

Juice Wireless on expansion spree
Juice Wireless launched JuiceCaster in India. Ideal for tech-savvy Indians and IT professionals, JuiceCaster allows anyone with a camera-enabled mobile phone to create and consume rich media content from their wireless devices and the Web, and then automatically share it with their friends and family.
