Tricom to Buy Apex Document
Tricom India has signed an MoU to acquire assets of the US-based Apex Document Solutions, a full service provider of litigation support services for legal practitioners, for a cost of $2 mn. The acquisition enables Tricom to enhance the value chain in the litigation support vertical by offering a full suite of both onsite and offshore engagement models and widening its market presence.

Capgemini Signs Deal with NXP
Capgemini has signed a five-year agreement with NXP Semiconductors, the independent semiconductor company founded by Philips, to provide end-to-end finance and accounting (F&A) services, including procure-to-pay and record-to-report. According to the terms of the agreement, which expands the existing long-term relationship between the two companies, approximately 110 professionals, who are currently based in India, will join Capgemini's BPO excellence delivery center in Chennai.

Award for Satyam's Rural Program
Byrraju Foundation, the Satyam Computer-founded NGO, has received the Asian Corporate Social Responsibility Award under the poverty alleviation category. Satyam got the honor for GramIT (its rural BPO program). The GramIT utilizes the capabilities of educated, unemployed villagers, who are hired to work in the rural BPO facilities.

BPOs Require 200 Mn Sq Ft Space
According to RocSearch, a UK-based business research and analytics firm, with an estimated 70% of the new construction in the commercial space needed for the information technology sector, India's IT and BPO industry, expected to grow to $148 bn by 2012, is likely to require about 200 mn sq ft of office space by 2008.

Globerian Secures Large Contract
Globerian, one of India's leading healthcare BPO providers, announced the signing of a large contract for medical billing, transcription, and other revenue cycle management services. The client is an auditing and financial accounting firm in the United States that specializes in assisting large physician group practices. Under the terms of the contract, Globerian will provide medical billing and other revenue cycle management services for more than fifty physician group practices.

Usha Martin Acquires Converso
The Usha Martin group has acquired the UK-based BPO, Converso Contact Centers. The acquisition would create additional 1,400 new jobs in India and South Africa. Converso Contact Centers provide both inbound and outbound call handling services across sectors like finance, utilities, manufacturing, leisure, IT, telecom, and retail.
