After successfully deploying IPTV service in 200 homes across Delhi last year, the MTNL-Aksh Optifibre combine has announced the commercial launch of this next generation television broadcast system. Now all MTNL broadband subscribers will be able to register for India's first IPTV service. Service will be available at Rs 90 a month with options to select individual pay channels based on your own personal choice. Pay channels can be subscribed by using your remote. This service offers services like online television guide, "Time-shifted TV" where you can rewind back to 1 full week, A-Tube, which allows advertisers to upload full-length campaigns. Soon to be launched e-commerce facility will even allow consumers to buy using TV remote. Video-on-demand facility currently with over 100 movie titles is available, revolutionizing TV viewing in India.

The software, hardware service set-up and content delivery for IPTV service are being managed by Aksh Optifibre. MTNL will function as the service provider taking charge of operations and revenue collection. And, UTStarcom is expected to add value to the partnership with Rolling Stream, a broadband digital TV delivery solution.
