First Gigabit-Density Mobile DRAM
Samsung Electronics announced that it has developed the industry's first 1 Gb mobile DRAM (dynamic random access memory) for mobile products, using 80 nm process technology. The new chip, also known as low-power DDR (double data rate) or synchronous DRAM, will be more cost effective than other high density mobile solutions and used for a wide range of advanced handset applications.

LG Launches 6th-Gen Chipset
LG has released a sixth generation digital broadcast receiver chipset for decoding digital broadcasts, both over-air and cable for TV viewing. The chipset can decode both vestigial sideband, the North American standard for terrestrial digital over-air broadcasts, and quadrature amplitude modulation, the North American standard for digital cable broadcasts. The chipset applies an exclusive algorithm that enhances reception and eliminates multi-path ghosts.

ASUSTeK Launches AiGuru S1 in India
ASUSTeK Computer has introduced the world's first wireless music Skype phone, the AiGuru S1 in the Indian market. The AiGuru S1 packed several practical features for easy and wireless access of PC functions. The Skype phone not only provides mobility to Skype users but also allows them to enjoy music on their PC wirelessly. Analog Introduces Dual 14-bit ADC
Data conversion technology provider Analog Devices has introduced the first dual 14-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC) to achieve sampling rates of 150 mega samples per second (MSPS). Supporting all third-generation (3G) base station wireless standards, including W-CDMA, CDMA2000 and TD-SCDMA, the AD9640 is the only dual 14-bit ADC that samples at rates beyond 135 MSPS, a common requirement for the emerging WiMax standard.

NTT Introduces Web Conferencing Sol
NTT Communications introduced its high-quality Web conferencing solution, dubbed the Web-based Visual Communication Solution, in 16 countries outside Japan, including the US and India. The solution enables the transmission of high-resolution (640x480 pixels) video at 2-8 Mbps and 30 frames per second, and CD-quality sound. NTT packaged the service with its Arcstar Global IP-VPN and leased lines to create a Web conferencing solution for international markets.

Motorola and Phiar close to success
Motorola and Phiar announced Phiar's metal-double-insulator-metal (MIIM) diodes have surpassed Motorola's millimeter wave frequency performance benchmarks, marking a significant milestone in the companies' joint agreement to develop circuits that are capable of operating in the hundreds of GHz and potentially into the terahertz (THz) range. MIIM diodes can be broadly incorporated with circuits which use standard CMOS manufacturing as well as other semiconductor and printed circuit technologies. By the end of 2007, Motorola and Phiar plan to have a receiver prototype of this technology demonstrating wireless video streamlining at multi-Gbps data rates.

InSilica Lauches INS-3510
InSilica has launched its next generation image processor in the mobile phone segment. The INS-3510 brings full 3 and 5 megapixel digital still camera class capabilities to lower cost mobile phones. It includes features previously unavailable in this segment such as advanced adaptive tone mapping to ensure color correctness in variety of lighting sources, full auto-functions including Auto Exposure, Auto White Balance, and user selectable multipoint Auto-Focus. Through its programmable architecture additional features such as special effects can be included to enable camera module and phone manufactures to further customize and differentiate against the standard array of low quality and limited feature cameras prevalent in current value phones. It features almost all the next gen capabilities in it.

Infineon, Global Locate Develop Smallest GPS Receiver
Infineon Technologies and Global Locate have announced the successful development of the industry's smallest Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver chip for mobile telephones, smart phones and personal navigation devices. Based on the successful Hammerhead chip, the new Hammerhead II chip is optimized for cellular handsets and mobile devices requiring high performance, low power and an extremely small footprint. The diminutive single-die chip measures only 3.74 mm x 3.59 mm x 0.6 mm, for a total footprint of less than 14 mm˛, resulting in the world's smallest GPS receiver. The Hammerhead II GPS receiver includes LNA, RF down-converter and signal processing baseband technology on a single RFCMOS die.

Eurotech Launches BestNet Fibre Optic Cables in India
Eurotech Technologies, the Bangalore based technology distribution company, has announced the launch of high-performance fibre optic cables suitable for use in direct burial, duct or aerial outdoor applications. The rugged six core outdoor cables feature a black UV- and abrasion-resistant polyolefin jacket and a gel-filled cable core that is impervious to water penetration plus an anti-fungus protection for use in underground applications. The high performance fibre optic cable allows customers to future proof their installations and reduce the total cost of ownership by maintaining compatibility with existing infrastructure. The fast easy and lightweight concept of the BestNet fibre optic cable is nonconductive and has superior dielectric properties for optimum transmission performance with reduced link losses.

JDV Releases Cable Reel
JDV Products, an expert in manufacturing wrapping tools has released CR2000 Reel Saver. This CR2000 is lightweight, weather resistant, stackable and eliminates disposal fees and packaging waste by minimizing cable loss due to inaccurate measurement or remaining wire quantity. Unlike other models, this new model helps in saving storage and transportation costs by using a standard coiled wire, which maximizes cube efficiency. This reel saver can handle almost any wire or cable such as arial drop wire 2 pair, station wire (JKT) inside 3 or 4 pair. Anyone can use this user freindly cable reel. Also, it improves safety by eliminating twisted wires for on-site working technicians.
