RK Arnold is New TRAI Secretary
RK Arnold has been appointed as the secretary, Telecom Regulatory Authority
of India (TRAI). Earlier, he was the chief general manager of Andhra Pradesh
Telecom Circle. Arnold succeeds Rajendra Singh, who took up an assignment with
the World Bank in Washington. Singh held the post of secretary for almost one
year.
Tulip Gets Top Cisco People
Sudhir Narang has joined Tulip as CEO from Cisco where he was senior VP for
India and SAARC countries. Two other officials from Cisco India-Karan Bajwa
and Dinesh Verma, who were heading the government and service provider
businesses, respectively-have also joined Tulip. Bajwa will be president,
sales and marketing in Tulip, while Verma will be president, business
development.
Major Appointments in TEMA
Telecom Equipments Manufacturer Association (TEMA) has appointed PS Ramesh
as its president. Ramesh replaces P Balaji. He also holds the post of CMD at
Measurement and Control India, Bangalore. Rakesh Malik replaces Sanjay Agarwal
as secretary. Among others, Bharat Bhatia who is the regional director,
Government Affairs, SAARC and South East Asia, Motorola, has been appointed as
VP and Nafis Kazim, GM, projects, Bharti as the treasurer.
Shiralagi to lead NEA-IndoUS, India
Vinod Dham managed venture capital firm NEA-IndoUS Ventures has appointed Dr
Kumar Shiralagi as general partner to lead investments in India. In his new role
he will be responsible to make and manage strategic equity investments in early
and mid-stage companies in IT and BPO/KPO companies in India and Indo-US
corridor. Earlier, he was the head of Intel Capital, India.
Elcoteq Appoints New Director
Elcoteq, gobal provider of electronics manufacturing services for communication
technology industry, has appointed Carsten Barth as the new director for
corporate strategy and global marketing. Prior to Elcoteq, Barth spent eight
years in marketing leadership position with General Electric in Germany. In his
new role, Barth will coordinate activities with Elcoteq's Americas, Europe,
and APAC geographical areas.
Vikram Shah Joins NetApp as VP
Network Appliance has announced the appointment of Vikram Shah as VP and GM
for NetApp, Bangalore. Earlier, Shah has worked with Novell India as MD, with
Tata Unisys as VP (technology), and Tech Mahindra as CEO. He was also associated
with TCS and IBM. Shah is an active member of numerous trade organizations, such
as the American Chamber of Commerce, Indo-American Chamber of Commerce,
Bangalore Forum of IT Companies and Board of IT Education Standards.
