Can you give us an overview of your offerings?
Comverse has wide range of offerings. Apart from billing solutions, Comverse
offers whole set of solutions to telcos, like primary switches, value added
products like messaging, content management, VoIP, 3G and voice mail. We have
very wide range of solutions to cover whole billing spectrum, pretty much from
the network- order accusation, order handling, customer managements, billing,
self care etc. Comverse now is one of the primary providers of whole range of
solutions and products to telecom industry. It is acquiring companies to expand
its offerings.
What do you think is the most important element in making a
company successful in your space?
Billing solution is a very sophisticated area. First of all, you need a
product, which is feature-rich, robust, has what the market requires
internationally, in terms of capability. When a customer buys a product, he
expects to have a solution, which has very wide range of capabilities and is
very scalable and very robust. Next you need to have a sophisticated set of
consulting support staff system because implementing a billing system goes to
the heart of any telecom operator, be it wireless, wireline, cable etc. And, you
have to be able to integrate range of application process, operating process
with other range of IT systems. Because of the size of the telecom industry, and
to provide the best services, you need to have a very good relation with
partners. Because it is very difficult to maintain full range of capabilities in
all locations in all times. So, your ability to be successful, which is the
bottom line, lies in your ability in coexisting with the partners to help cover
the picks and values that you can have in your operation.
Do you provide solutions to non-telcos?
We do provide billing for non-telco entities, primarily in the US. We do all
the billing for eBay. So, when a buyer or seller does any kind of transaction,
the transaction is done by us. We do real time billing for all the transactions.
Though we provide billing solutions to non-telcos, primarily we focus on telcos.
How different are your offerings from other vendors?
I would like to say no other company offers the range of products that
Comverse does. So, a billing solution with all the value added service is very
unique. But a number of companies do offer very competitive products. I think we
have a real time, best capability required in terms of features solution, which
could be profoundly scalable. We handle the biggest telecom operator in India
and in China, for whom we do billing of 20-30 mn customers every month.
Does your billing solutions support next generation technologies
like 3G?
If you got a strong, robust, feature-rich product, you are already capable
of handling NGN requirements, 3G and IPTV. And, we have products, which allow us
to take large-scale transactions and allow the operators to combine all of the
transactions seamlessly and offer what the customers need.
