In October 2005, according to the monthly subscriber data published by TRAI, 3.2 mn telecom subscribers were added, compared to 2.9 mn in September 2005. About 2.9 mn subscribers were added, compared to 2.9 mn in September 2005. The additions were: 2.1 mn GSM subscribers and 0.8 mn CDMA subscribers as against about 2 mn GSM and 0.5 mn CDMA last month. In the fixed segment, a total of 0.3 mn subscribers were added, predominantly with WLL (F). The total subscriber base of fixed lines has reached 48.2 mn. The gross subscribers'
base has crossed 116 mn.  The tele-density has reached 10.66 as compared to 10.38 at the end of September. Broadband
connections crossed about .7 mn as against a target of 3 mn, as fixed in the Broadband Policy 2004.
