BUYING TIPS

  • Standards: Cable modems must comply with the Data over Cable Service Interface Specification (DOCSIS) 1.0 or the newly released 2.0 version. DSL modems should comply with industry standards like G.lite and ITU G.dmt.

  • Compatibility: Different types of DSL technologies are incompatible with each other. Therefore, it becomes imperative the service provider and the user have the same DSL technology.

  • Vendor Support: Issues like warranty, SLAs, servicing network and driver availability should be checked out.
