l Wipro Spectramind,
now a 100 percent subsidiary of Wipro, recorded a revenue of Rs 56.4 crore in
the third quarter of 2002-03. The BPO arm of Wipro added 686 employees in the
quarter to take its total employee strength to 3,884 as on 31 December 2002. The
total number of active customers during the quarter was nine.
l In the same quarter
(OND ’02), HCL Technologies’s BPO business registered a 33 percent
quarter-on-quarter growth to record a total revenue of Rs 29.5 crore. The
company added 476 employees taking the total employee base to 1309. The growth
rate was almost three times the growth recorded in JAS quarter.
l Progeon Limited,
Infosys Technologies’ BPO arm, ended the third quarter (OND) with a revenue of
Rs 8.21 crore with a net loss of Rs 1.42 crore. The company added one client
during the quarter. It added 139 people and the employee strength as on December
31, 2002 was 426. The company has built an additional capacity of 700 seats. The
company is reportedly looking for strategic acquisitions and a back-up facility
outside India.
l MsourcE, the BPO
company of MphasiS BFL, posted a revenue of Rs 26.2 crore and a net loss of Rs
18.39 crore in the third quarter of 2002-03. The revenue growth was 347 percent
on an annual basis. The company added 489 employees in the quarter, leading to a
total employee base of 2124.
l GTL Ltd’s call
center services division has posted a revenue of Rs. 27.44 crore during the
quarter ended December 31, 2002. The PBIT was a healthy Rs 9.3 crore.
