Jaipur National University (JNU), a venture of Seedling Group of Institutions, is established by the Government of Rajasthan and approved by UGC under Sec 2f of UGC Act 1956 offering various courses in technology domain and social science like engineering, law, business and management, etc. The university that has demonstrated high standards of teaching and research, required a right cabling system to keep up its growth with future proofing.

The Need
For its data structured cabling system, the Jaipur National University required a well thought-out and properly engineered structured cabling system. The exact need was a cabling system that facilitated ease of use, flexibility, and reliability. Able to adapt to emerging and changing technologies, the system is IT professionals' network backbone for successful integration of several generations of equipment. DIGILINK was able to surpass all these requirements with the added benefit of value for money.

Techno Solutions was shortlisted as a system integrator to execute this project. Techno Solutions has a reputation of completing projects as per the commitment and providing dedicated services, they have ten years of experience in networking with certifications and have its own tools (OTDR and splicing machine for immediate and trouble free maintenance). Prashat Shai Saxena, deputy director, at the University's Computer Science Department, responsible for structured cabling of the campus says, “Selection of experienced SI with DIGILINK brand brings significant savings in time and costs without compromising the ability to meet the demands of the network services. Installing an SDC system within the university has helped to resolve issues related to cable connectivity, speed, tracing of cables, network failure, managing big cabling system and providing future additions in the existing system.”

Gopal Joshi, regional sales manager, DIGILINK says, “System configuration choices for the campus cabling infrastructure were based on many criteria such as application requirements, number of users, required levels of security, performance, budget, reliability and future expandability.”

The Solution
JNU has ten different buildings spread across the campus and all the backbones in the campus are connected with single mode fiber. Internally, all the user points are on Cat6 cabling system with a right mix. Hostels are also connected with fiber backbone with provision for Wi-Fi network. The total end-to-end solution is designed for Gigabit Ethernet application and is future expandable as per the requirements and need that keeps growing. The Cat6 cabling system installed is inclusive of modular jacks designed for extended high frequency performance and very low ANEXT when inserted in faceplate or patch panel. Flexible patch cords are designed to provide the highest levels of crosstalk isolation, and horizontal cables are designed for crosstalk isolation. Fiber cabling system for the campus included Fiber cables, LIU's, couplers, OFC patch cords and fusion splice of pigtails. After the integration of the total network, it was tested for certification.

At a time when both performance and costs are key requirements, the DIGILINK System offers IT professionals and facility managers a number of cost-effective cable management and connectivity advantages, with no compromise on performance. It helps mitigating risks and maximizes return on investment, representing preferred solution.
