Taking broadband to a fast track: As broadband has been the icing on the cake
for all operators in SAARC nation, this was one key focus for discussion where
the delegates discussed on how to have a better penetration. Some issues of
concern like the cost of equipment were also talked about.
Need for intelligent network: Telecom without network cannot exist so this
topic of discussion was equally important. The brainstorming revolved around how
to leverage the next generation networks and how to unify communications, as it
will be the key to provide a diverse yet quality services.
Win-win partnership models: Today VAS is only 5% in some of the SAARC
countries of the telecom's revenue but with better services and newer concepts
coming in it would be great to see the segment driving the industry in terms of
revenue. It would also be a key driver in the penetration of broadband.
Speedy rollout versus QoS: Here the discussion was about how easily telecom
was available to the remote users, as in most of the places it has become a
lifestyle. What should be the quality of service was another point of
interaction. They also talked about enhancing network quality and understanding
the working model in other SAARC regions.
After the brainstorming session and the moderators of each of the groups put
in front of the hall their presentations letting others know their viewpoints.
