As chairman, Reliance Communications Ventures, he designed the falcon project for solving India's bandwidth problem. He also led his team in planning and launching unprecedented innovative schemes such as '1-day recharge' and 'one world one number roaming'. Taking RCoVL beyond India he tied up with China Telecommunication Corporation to provide the first direct telecommunication service between India and China.

Under his aegis RCoVL got listed and ranks among the top 10 service providers in the world, and boasts of the largest pan-India domestic network in the private sector.

He is a Member of the Wharton Board of Overseers, The Wharton School, USA; the Central Advisory Committee, the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission, and Board of Governors of IIT-Kanpur.
