DP Sehgal was commissioned in the Corps of Signals, Indian
Army and has held various appointments in the field and peace in all types of
terrains. He has been actively involved in strategic and perspective planning in
the field of telecommunications for nearly 'four decades'. While in service,
he was responsible for conceptualizing and implementation of the defence
networks, information warfare & information technology, cyber security &
spectrum management to support the evolving strategic and operational
requirements of the Army in keeping with the developments in technology.
The Government of India awarded him the Vishist Seva Medal (1997), Ati
Vishist Seva Medal (2002) and Param Vishist Seva Medal (2003). Besides being on
the board of BEL, Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL) & Indian
Telephone Industries Limited (ITI) he was also the chairman, Electronic
Development Panel of DRDO, chairman, Sub Committee on Joint Electronic
Management Compatibility Advisory Board and chairman, Joint Electronic Warfare
Board. He is a distinguished fellow of IETE and honorary fellow of Broadcast
Engineering Society.
