It was Raman Roy who virtually catalyzed telecos into providing high quality of telecom services for the mission critical applications that BPO companies run. Telecom companies including BSNL also pitched in to provide world-class connectivity, which helped BPO companies like Genpact to leverage it do more work from India. Improved connectivity also helped the company to expand to other parts of the country. Other companies also followed suit. Thanks to the support from telecos, Roy replicated his GECIS success with that of Spectramind, which grew to become the largest third-party BPO company in India. It was acquired by Wipro in July 2002. Raman was the Chairman and Managing Director of Wipro Spectramind until June 2005. Presently he is the chairman & managing director, Quatrro.
