Sunil Bharti Mittal is the founder, chairman and group managing
director of Bharti Airtel. He broke the 100-year-old monopoly of state run
companies to provide telecom services in India.
He has led Bharti AirTel to the forefront of the telecom
revolution and has transformed the telecom sector with its world-class services
built on leading edge technologies.
Sunil founded Bharti in the year 1976 and since then it has been
a leadin force in the telecom industry and has maintained its leadership
position and nationwide presence in mobile communications, fixed line services,
long distance and broadband services. He guided Bharti to cross the 11,000 crore
mark in FY 2005-06. He also evangelized increasing of FDI Limit in the country
and recorded single-largest foreign investment worth $1.5 billion.
Bharti has grown successfully in partnership with various
leading companies of the world like-Singapore Telecom, Vodafone, Warburg
Pincus, and British Telecom etc.
Bharti also ventured into the overseas market by launching
services in Seychelles.
