As director, Marketing at BSNL, VP Sinha has been credited
with the debt handling of marketing of BSNL's exceptionally successful
cellular service since it was launched. He was instrumental in driving the
customer care and quality of service for the customers, especially the corporate
customers. His area of specialization, however, was transmission, but he
actively involved in various initiatives of BSNL related to Open Wire Carrier,
Coaxial, VHF, UHF, Microwave, Optical Fiber and Satellite Communication.
He was also instrumental in the finalization of the hardware and software for
STEP (Satellite Telecommunication Experimental Project). SITE was conducted
using Franco-German Symphonie satellite and was a major demonstration of
communication applications of space. This helped in telecasting series of
educational programs on health, family planning, agriculture and the like to
over 2,500 Indian villages via the US satellite, ATS-6. It is considered to be
one of the largest sociological experiment ever carried out in the world.
