Yogesh Kumar Pandey has played a defining role in the
evolution of C-DOT's switching systems and equipment production. Prior to
joining ITI, Pandey was responsible for institutionalizing the process of
function and quality validation of telecom products in various positions at
C-DOT. The pioneering efforts of Pandey resulted in successful transfer of lab
designs to over 30 Indian manufacturers that consequently delivered 25 mn
telephone lines valued at Rs 5,000 crore-a feat of horizontal technology
transfer unparalleled in India.
Pandey was instrumental in creating a large component base in
India to fulfill the requirements of C-DOT equipment manufacturers.
As a digital switching expert, Pandey has been a member of
several committees like DoT, and ITU, for technology forecasting, development,
standardization, monitoring and strategy related decisions. He has also led some
international delegations on telecom related assignments.
As the CMD of India's largest telecom equipment PSU, ITI, Pandey spearheads
the business transformation initiative pursuing emerging convergence markets at
a time when the company has been suffering huge losses. He is also the
ex-officio chairman of ITI's two JVs-India Satcom, a pioneer in satellite
communications and Fibcom India, a leader in fiber-optic based network
solutions.
