SAARC is one of the biggest and fastest growing telecom markets in the world and has been recording a stupendous growth in the last few years. The next phase of telecom growth, or Telecom 2.0 will depend on how policy makers, operators and other stakeholders can make telecom a tool for empowering mobile consumers and businesses. And how effectively will operators be able to expand networks and services to cater to the growing and unfulfilled demand in Tier 2 and 3 locations, and in semi-urban and rural geographies.

The CEO Conclave 2008 endeavors to get key regulators, operators, vendors, and VAS and content players in the SAARC region to discuss and brainstorm on what they must do, and how, to ensure that the next growth phase of telecom is equally successful.

About 100-110 participants from the region are expected to be a part of the conclave, which aims at deliberating on concerns of the telecom markets of the member countries.

This keynote address of the event will focus on measures needed to realize the dream of Connected SAARC and growing opportunities in the region. Last year, we discussed if the region was ready for the next step in telecom, with this session we move a step closer towards making efforts to set up cost-effective high-quality infrastructure for the next generation technology.
