Shyam Telecom moved aggressively into the growing communications industry and has become a diversified communications company with interests in telecom equipment manufacturing, telecom software development, turnkey services and licensed communications services. During the fiscal 2000-01, the company registered a turnover of Rs 200 crore. Within one year of heightened activity Shyam Telelink has been able to achieve financial closure for its basic services project.

Having moved aggressively into the growing communications industry when it mattered, Shyam Telecom Ltd, has become a diversified communications company with interests in telecom equipment manufacturing, telecom software development, turnkey services, and licensed communications services namely cellular services, VSAT services, mobile satellite services and basic services. However, operationally as a company, Shyam Telecom’s focused mandate is to enable telecommunication networks. In manufacturing, it has been producing and selling corDECT-based equipment and VSAT terminals apart from looking at other diversified products such as radio-based equipment for the power sector. Its turnkey solution group is already working extensively in Rajasthan for deploying the networks of Shyam Telelink, the licensed operator of basic services in the state, and Hexacom, the licensed operator of cellular services. Shyam Telecom has also developed a BSS/customer care software, which is already operational in the networks of its service provider JVs and HFCL Infotel.

During the FY 2000-01, Shyam Telecom has registered a turnover of Rs 200 crore. The company’s subsidiary and JVs are performing even better. Within one year of heightened activity Shyam Telelink has been able to achieve financial closure for its basic services project. It already has operations in both Jaipur and Jodhpur with about 20,000 subscriptions.
